Dear
Meatloaf Lover,
I
made this 3-layered meat loaf cake in an effort to
fool my wife and kids and boy did it work! It took
me all of 6 hours to put this dam meatloaf cake together
and I still didn't get it to look like I really wanted
it too.
Why
did it take me so long? Well I'm glad you asked.
Everything
that could possibly go wrong...did go wrong! Initially,
I didn't buy enough ground beef (well, in this meatloaf
cake, I actually used ground turkey) so I had to stop
what I was doing to run to the store to get some more.
So
I got back from the store and prepped everything to
put in the oven only to burn the hell out of the meat.
So I had to go back to the store to buy some more
ground turkey so I could start all over again.
Finally,
I cooked everything properly the second time around
only to realize I didn't have any mashed patotoes
(the instant kind), so I had to go back to the store
to buy instant mashed patotoe mix in the box.
Got
back home and realized I didn't have any meatloaf
sauce, so I had to go back to the store again to buy
some meat loaf sauce! At this point, I was ready to
throw in the towel, but had came to far to quit now!
Anyhow,
I finally got everything made and I used mashed patotoes
to make the meatloaf cake look like a real cake with
icing. The more mashed patotoes I put on the cake,
the more real the meat loaf cake started to look.
I couldn't believe it!
3
layers of meatloaf and Hungry Jack Instant Mashed
Potatoes
Well
I finally got the caked finished and decorated the
meatloaf caking the best I could, which I don't think
is half bad for a guy who doesn't reguarly cook! What
do you think?

I
dressed it up and put some baby tomatoes on top
The
wife and kids finally came home later that evening
and for dinner I made them some "cake",
beans, mashed potatoes and some bread rolls. When
my wife looked at the table, she looked at me and
said...
"Have
you lost your damn mind?"
Imagine
that? A wife who is home 7 days a week, 24-hours a
day, and she half-ass cooks anyway and she is complaining
about what the heck I cooked for dinner?
The
woman could have been a little more grateful, but
then again, maybe I was just asking for a little too
much!
Perhaps
I should stop now because when she finds out about
this web site, she's gonna kill me...Then I'll finally
be out of my misery, LOL!

This photo was taken before we ate, they still didn't
know it was a meatloaf cake..even after I cut it!
(wife didn't want to be seen, go figure!)
When
they finally sat down to eat, you should have seen
the looks on their faces...since the cake was on their
plates, and with kids being kids, they all bit into
the cake first! And almost at the exact same time,
they all started spitting cake all over their plates...
One
thing about the human mind, when you bite down into
some cake, and you were expecting to taste something
very sweet, all kinds of signals start going off in
your brain when you now realize it isn't cake!
They
didn't know what to think.
You
see, mashed potatoes and meatloaf is one of their
favorite meals, but when their brain processed it
as cake, it was the most nastiest thing they ever
ate. But when I finally explained to them what they
were eating...They tasted it again and they ate it
all up!
They
were so disappointed at first, can you tell?
